History

The faculty of Philosophy was founded in 1995 to meet the needs of Western Ukrainian region for highly-skilled specialists in social and humanitarian areas, who are able to form the cultural aura of a personality and the society, to solve vital problems of philosophic and psychological comprehension, the problems of correction and formation of adequate outlook with humanistic content. The content of the faculty activity is determined by the integration of a wide range of human nature studies: Philosophy, Psychology, Religion Studies, Cultural Studies.

In 1995 was the first admission of students to the specialization 6.040101 – Psychology (Field: 0401 Psychology). General- and Social Psychology Chairs carried out the education process. In 1996 the Chair of Religion Studies was organized and included to the structure of the Faculty.  In 2001 it was reorganized and renamed in the Chair of Religion Studies and Theology. In 1997 was the first admission of students to the specialization 6.030102 – Religion Studies (Field: 0301 Philosophy). In 1998 the Faculty received the license to train psychologists and religionist at education-qualification levels (Specialist, Master). The training of Specialist majoring in 6.030100 – Philosophy (Field: 0301 Philosophy) was started in 2002.

At the Faculty postgraduate students gain such specializations 19.00.05 – Social Psychology (1995), 09.00.05 – History of Philosophy (1995), 19.00.07 – Psychology of Education and Age Psychology (1996), 09.00.07 – Ethics (2002). Doctorates pursue their theses-researches at the Chair of Social Psychology , Psychology of Education and Age Psychology, Philosophy, Religion Studies and Theology, General and Experimental Psychology. The Faculty International Cooperation:

The faculty has close international ties with the Institute of Psychology of Wroclaw University (Poland), the Chair of Acmeology of Russian Academy of Management, Eastern-European Association of Existential Psychology and Psychotherapy (Vilnius, Lithuania). European Association of Psychotherapy (Vienna, Austria).
